Marketing & Business Management Students join for JA Titan Project

Andrew Holland owner of Interactive Media Group leads Students in Titan Project The Titan online software requires a high level of decision making skills. Set in the year 2035, JA Titan creates a world in which players are CEOs of their own companies. JA Titan is a widely recognized business simulation for high school students. During game play, students must run a manufacturing company and master six key business decisions: price of product, production levels, marketing expenses, research and development costs, capital investment level, and charitable giving. Various corporate assistants “help” the player through each phase, or “quarter,” of game play. Changing economic conditions challenge student players. Success in JA Titan is measured by a “Performance Index,” an evaluation of each fictional company’s performance based on the following: •Retained Earnings (50%) •Supply and Demand Potential (20%) •Productivity (10%) •Market Share (10%) •Growth (10%) During game play, players attempt to achieve the highest Performance Index possible. At game end, the player with the highest company Performance Index wins. In January 2 teams from Copley will have the opportunity to compete against 15-20 other NE Ohio schools at the University of Akron. Copley Business Management teacher, Mrs. Diana Kelley, had three students who came in as the First Place Titan team in 2012 winning $500. per student! The pressure is on for another successful year for CHS teams!

Internet Security

Log Out of Accounts and Close the Browser for better security. Two new instances of hackers taking advantage of individuals who make a habit of leaving email and facebook accounts logged in. One was a facebook account where the hackers posted 2 comments on a wall of a very inappropriate nature. The owner of the account had not been on facebook for several days and was alerted by friends who knew it was not the owners "style" of post. The other was an email account where the entire contact list received a message that the person was in England on vacation and had been robbed of all cash, credit cards, etc. It was a plea for money to be sent to England to pay the hotel bill. Needless to say the person known to all was at home getting phone calls from all their friends. In both cases the person was in the habit of not logging out or closing their browser.
